Daddy's Spartan Race
On June 30th, these boys became men ;) LOL They had NO idea what they were really getting into...
The Spartan 'Beast' Race is a 12 mile/30 obstacle race. Some of the obstacles were pure insanity to me... but they seemed to thrive on all of it.
This lil cutie was SO good the whole time we were there... I had to nurse her in a few weird places, but we made it... dead heat, hot wind, stinky port-a-potties and all ;)
This obstacle was Really intense... it was about two thirds into the race and when I saw my husband come up to this and look up in exhaustion, it made me choke up with emotion... as a spectator, we didn't get to see all the things they did, only hear about them... this was the second time I saw my husband and to see him So tired and have to go up this muddy hill, under barbed wire, with a fire hose spraying them and making the hill rocky... It was tough for me because I Knew it was tough for him...
He came home with tore up knees and elbows from that bad boy...
He looks so dang HOT in this picture ;) LOL
LOVE IT!
They looked pretty tore up at the end... it took them a little over 4 hours to complete it all... some of them could have made it through a lot faster, but they waited for each other so they could finish together.
Pretty cool!
Afterwards, we took pictures and for some reason, this is the only pic they got of me and Charlie... at first we stood side by side and I said, 'You can put your arm around me, I'm ok with the mud' and so he does and decides to squeeze my buns while at it... THIS is the face they captured LOL *sigh*
While we were up at the race, the two older girls stayed with Aunt Chelsea at Grandpa Horsley's house. They stayed the night there the night before and spent most of the next day... now this may seem weird, but this was the first time I left them with anyone besides my family (they haven't ever even had a sitter since Taigyn has been born) so it was a bit tough for me.... BUT they had a blast! and thank heavens for texting so mommy could check in ;)
This is where Taigyn spent most of her time... she even took a nap in it ;)
Aunt Chels did Trisadee's hair SO cute... she needs to give me lessons ;)
Aunt Hollyann came up with us and helped me out with the baby at the race... she was a HUGE help, as always... I love my sisters!
We saw a few fires on the way up and back... this one was pretty bad and filled the whole sky with smoke as we got past it... The dry season is always hard for us here in So Utah.
This last photo is of Charlie's Dad's whole family on the top (total of 16 kids and who knows how many grandkids), and his mom's whole family on the bottom (5 boys, four from his dad)... Lots of people = Lots of fun! :)
(Click on the picture to see it bigger... count all those people LOL)
